Mary Ann Sternberg wins Greater Baton Rouge Sisterhood award

Ernest Gaines and LSU author Mary Ann Sternberg were recently named as this year's winners of the Greater Baton Rouge Brotherhood and Sisterhood Award.  The award is sponsored by 100 Black Men of Baton Rouge and is awarded to 2 members of the community who promote justice and harmony.  The ceremony will be held at the Baton Rouge Holiday Inn Select on August 7th. 

Ms. Sternberg is the author of Along The River Road and Winding Through Time.

LSU Press author Larry Powell elected as SAH Fellow

Congratulations to LSU Press author Lawrence N. Powell, who was recently elected as a Fellow of the Society of American Historians.  Fellows are chosen in recognition of the literary and scholarly distinction of their historical writing.   LSU Press recently published The New Orleans of George Washington Cable: The 1887 Census Office Report, edited with an introduction by Mr. Powell.
